Back at It

Friends, we wanted to take a moment to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of love and support as we nervously re-entered the live music realm as a full band last Friday.

It’s been weird and lonely over the past several years trying to navigate how to do this thing without John E. And so.. we waited. We decided not to play out as a full band again until the time was right. Whenever that was. We figured we would know when it happened. In the meantime, we worked on other things - including a new record. And things were sounding pretty alright.

But despite that, it still felt like something was missing, so we asked our friend Travis Talbert if he could help us out on some pedal steel. And wouldn’t you know, something really special clicked. The record is beautiful and we can’t wait for y’all to hear it.

And then, a couple of months back, Guided by Voices very graciously asked us to play this show with them, and we felt we should consider giving a full-band live show a shot. When we asked the rest of the band, they said “yes” with only one caveat - only if Travis could be there too.

So this brings us to last Friday. I can’t tell you what it meant to us to be playing for you all together again. Thanks for being a part of that.

Thanks to Stevie Girton for the amazing house sound. Thanks to the Madison staff and GBV for the warm hospitality. Thanks to Bradley and the rest of the crew for the crystal clear monitor mixes. And of course - thanks to YOU all for showing up! And even if you couldn’t be there, you sent your love and good vibes from afar. It felt great to be back at it.
